Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early chances in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
